MACKAY, Bugler Duncan Gordon A memorial service to the late member of the 3rd Reinforcements of the expeditionary force, who died at sea on 14 March, was held at St David's Presbyterian Church, Auckland, on Sunday. Deceased was leading bugler in the Auckland Highland Rifles and was also a piper in St Andrew's Pipe Band.

BELCHER, Captain E A formerly headmaster of Christ's College, Christchurch, who was appointed to the 9th (Service) Battn, Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry, in January, has been promoted to the rank of Major. The battalion is at present at Falmouth and forms part of the 103rd Brigade.

SEWELL, Miss Marion, late charge nurse of the Kawakawa Hospital, will leave Auckland by the Ionic on 22 April to join the English nurses in service at the front.

KING, Pay-Sergeant T J, HQ Staff, NZEF Advice from Cairo reports that Sgt King has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. He is an officer of the Marine Dept and was formerly in the Treasury Dept.

PARKER, Captain A C nephew of Earl Kitchener, who is at present on special service in Egypt, was formerly in the NZ Defence Forces, South Canterbury, from which he passed into the British Army. He served in Egypt for some years and then joined the Egyptian Civil Service. He was for ten years Governor of the Peninsula of Sinai.

CARTER, Lieut Walter E, Machine-gun Section of the 3rd, Auckland, Mounted Rifles, fell down the ship's hold while embarking horses at Egypt.. He has cabled his parents at Northcote that he is returning to NZ but will afterwards proceed to the front.

FINN, Surgeon Lieut B S, NZMC, Dental Surgeon, has transferred to the Australian Expeditionary Force. Promoted to Captain.

MOSSMAN, Trooper Thomas Henry, died at Cairo from diphtheria. A Legion of Frontiersmen member (since 1912), Poverty Bay District, with the Expeditionary Force. When the second reinforcements were assembling at Trentham, the Otago Mounted Regt was short of 40 men and the deficiency was made up by the Poverty Bay Squadron of the L of F, Trooper Mossman being among those selected.
