ON ACTIVE SERVICE

Lieut H D WILLIAMS, RFC, Auckland, has been promoted flight-commander with the rank of captain. He has a commission in the AMR but has been attached to the RFC since last October.

Major F B KNYVETT, DSO, RFA, late of Auckland, who was reported wounded a few days ago, making the sixth time, is in hospital in France. Fortunately he has not been dangerously hurt. He has shrapnel wounds in the right knee and left foot and the sinews of the foot have been severed. Satisfactory progress is reported.

Mrs G W D MULGAN, Auckland, who has been training with the Inns of Court at Berkhampstead, has been nominated for a commission in the RGA and is now taking a course at the RGA cadet school at Uckfield in Sussex.

Lieut F von T KETTLE, NZ Mounted Rifles, has been granted the rank of captain while on special duty.

Lieut Colonel G T HALL, AQMG, Headquarters, London, is laid up with an injured ankle, the result of a motor mishap. He is at Walton.

Lieut Colonel W W ALDERMAN, CMG, of the Auckland Infantry Brigade staff, has been appointed to command a battalion of the Auckland Regiment in place of Lieut Colonel R C ALLEN, DSO, who has been wounded. Major E H ORR is granted the rank of lieut-colonel vice Lieut Colonel ALLEN.

2nd Lieutenants N H HOGG and M D ROHAN, Otago Regt, have been promoted to Lieutenant.

Sergt A S RINTOUL, NZE, of Auckland, has been discharged from the NZEF for a commission in the Imperial Army.

Sub Lieut W R INGRAM, RMVR, Auckland, has gone to Southampton to join HMS Hermione.
