These tables have been produced with permission from the book Black November - The 1918 Influenza Pandemic in New Zealand - by Geoffrey W Rice (Second Edition, Canterbury University Press, 2005, ISBN 1-877257-35-4) which I can thoroughly recomend for further reading on the 1918 Flu Epidemic.

Geoff Rice has done exhaustive research into the 1918 Epidemic and has revised the final figures. The population figures below are those of the 1916 Census. Death rate is per 1000. Only registered Maori deaths are listed and these were not available for some districts at the time. Please see the revised figures table at end of page.
