HENN, GLADYS MABEL (DEACONESS)

 

Mabel Henn was born on the 5 January 1894 at Wellington, the youngest daughter of Richard William and Charlotte Ann Maria Henn.  In 1895, the family came to Hawera.  Mabel attended Hawera Main Primary School from 1900.  In 1928 she left Hawera and began work as an Anglican Deaconess. 

 

Mabel was ordained at Gisborne on the 31 January 1932, and spent six years there.  She then spent eight years in Napier, later moving to Hastings.  She retired in 1962.

 

Mabel Henn died on the 8 May 1978 at Hastings and is buried at the Hawera cemetery with her parents.
