LEYDON, ELEANOR ROSE (ELLA) nee PALMER
Ella Palmer was born at Waverley in October 1897, the daughter of John Edward and Roseann Palmer nee Thurston.
She did her nursing training at the Hawera Hospital, and then from 1931 was the Plunket nurse in Patea, Whenuakura and Waverley districts relieving several times at the Hawera branch as well.
Ella had really enjoyed the work and found complete satisfaction from working with the young children.
In 1950 she married Andrew Desmond Leydon at Wanganui.
Ella Leydon died on the 1 January 1987 at Hawera, shortly after celebrating her 90th birthday.
