NOTICE is hereby given that the following Petition will be for- warded to His Excellency the Governor forthwith, in terms of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876."
To his Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand:
WE, the undersigned Resident Householders in the Town of Tauranga, do hereby pray that the district known as the Town of Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, situate in the Waimapu Riding, County of Tauranga, Colony of New Zealand, bounded as follows: — Commencing at the Sandspit, towards the north by highwater mark of Tauranga harbour, towards the east by highwater mark of Tauranga harbour, towards the south by suburban allotments Nos. 59, 58, 55 (CMS No.34), 60, 61, and the southern boundary of Hospital street produced until it intersects the Kopurererua river, towards the west by the eastern bank of the Kopurererua rirer and high water mark of the Waikareao estuary to the point of commencement, and comprising an area of one thousand acres (more or less) as described on the plans attached, — may be constituted a Borough under the 17th clause of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876."
