NEW ZEALAND DISASTERS AND TRAGEDIES
WESTSHORE, NAPIER RAILCAR CRASH
MONDAY 06 AUGUST 1945

On Monday 06 August 1945, the Napier to Gisborne Rail Car collided with a truck carrying five men on the West Shore, Napier railway crossing at 8.27am.

Those killed were: -

BRYAN Alexander Harvey
HOME Raymond William
LAMBERT Frederick Alexander
ROWE Thomas Leonard
WANO Frank

The driver of the railcar was Angus Mitchell BUTTOLPH, of Wairoa.
