Sir James Allen has written to Mr H E Holland (Grey) with the decision not to send to camp Second Division C1 men, will also apply to the married men in the First Division who have been classed as C1.

NICHOLAS, Sgt Henry James, VC, 1st Canterbury Infantry, was shot through the head while demanding the surrender of some enemy soldiers. He won his Victoria Cross in 1917 at Polderhoek Chateau when he was a private with the Lewis Gun Section.

RICHMOND, Major J M, DSO, MC, RNZA, has been killed in action by a shell, death being instantaneous. He was buried in a French cemetery at Solesmes.

TROWERN, Gunner Harold C S, who has succumbed to pneumonia supervening on influenza, was the eldest son of Mr & Mrs T Trowern, Wellington. 20th Reinforcements, Naval architect by profession. Farmed in the Whangamomona district. Wounded at Messines and Passchendaele, invalided back to NZ last January.
