From the Jubilee booklet of 1962; -
The first committee meeting was held in the Mission Hall on June 21, 1902, those present being Messrs H J Gill, G Wallace, P Wright, N Ker, T Tanner, H A Alexander and W A Bennett. Mr Gill was elected chairman and Mr Bennett was secretary.
The proposed capital was ?0. Mr Sharp became legal adviser and the Bank of New Zealand "could have the account provided their terms were as advantageous as those of any other Bank."
Mr Harray bought the old cheese factory for ?0. The minimum number of cows was set at 500 from Te Puke and 400 from Pongakawa.
Mr Gray's offer to build the factory for ?0 was accepted. As the year progressed the committee decided to pay a Manager ?0 per annum. It was also decided to erect a creamery on Mr Wilkin's property at Pongakawa and Mr Crawford was paid ? for a factory site. Mr Chappell's tender for the building of creameries at Pongakawa and Kaikokopu (?8 each) was accepted.
A resolution of interest disclosed that 8d per lb be paid for butterfat for the ensuing season.
Subject to all conditions being fulfilled, shares were alloted as follows:

Mr Gill resigned and Mr M McEwan became chairman, Mr Tobeck being engaged as manager. Decided that milk suppliers be paid on the 20th of the month, Mr Bennett being appointed Managing-Director at a renumeration of ten guineas.
Tenders received for carting cream from Kaikokopu and Pongakawa to the main factory were: R McCormack, ?16s per week, R McGregor, ?5s per week, B Wilkins 12s per day - Mr Wilkins tender was accepted.
