BEY, Dr William of Greytown (influenza) on Thursday. [AWN 21.11.1918]
BILKEY, Mr, second son of R Bilkey, aged 28, 9th Reinforcements, invalided last May suffering from the effects of gas, Pukekohe, afforded a military funeral. (Pneumonia) [AWN 21.11.1918]
BOND, Michael, kitchenman, aged about 55, died suddenly at the Auckland Club last week. Verdict: Pneumonia in the left lung, aortic valve in a condition of acute inflammation. Death due to an acute attack of influenza. [AWN 14.11.1918]

DIXON, Charles Alfred, died on 16 November 1918 at Otahuhu Hospital, of influenza, Charles Alfred Dixon of East Tamaki, eldest son of the late Mr Hazar Dixon of Kamo, late of Waimate North, Bay of Islands: aged 42, son and brother of Laura and Milly. [AWN 19.12.1918]

GOODISON, Ann Winifred, 24 November 1918, Northern Wairoa Hospital, Te Kopuru, of influenza-pneumonia, contracted while nursing, Ann Winifred, eldest daughter of the late William Green and Patricia Webb of Arapahoe, wife of Sapper H C Goodison, 20th Engineers. [AWN 05.12.1918]

HAWKE, John F, carpenter, aged 59, died on Monday while working at Makarewa after influenza. He leaves a widow and three children. [AWN 19.12.1918]

HILL, Robert S, son of John Hill, Glencoe, Hamilton, aged 32, died of influenza. He was Secretary to the Te Aroha Fire Brigade and local Sports Committee and was prominent in the Presbyterian Church and Oddfellows' Lodge. [AWN 26.12.1918]

HUME, W Goodfellow, Waihi Hospital, in partnership with R Joughin, Owharoa, blue-metal quarry business, latterly grain & produce merchant - leaves widow and young family. [AWN 05.12.1918]
JAMIESON and MILES Two deaths from influenza occurred at the hospital during the weekend, Mr Robert JAMIESON, aged 36, Auckland Fire Brigade, and Mr Frederick MILES, aged 36, labourer, Railway Dept. [AWN 31.10.1918]
JEFFERIES A sad incident in connection with the recent epidemic in Wellington took place at the Petone Magistrate's Court last week when ten bright faced, intelligent, healthy, well-bred children were committed to the charge of the Education Dept. They were the children of the late Mr & Mrs JEFFERIES who were victims of the epidemic. Some of the children will be taken charge of by the relatives and others will remain in the direct care of the Government. [AWN 26.12.1918]

NESBITT, John, married, with 10 children cut his throat while suffering depression after influenza. [AWN 19.12.1918]
NEWTH, John died on Sunday of influenza. [AWN 05.12.1918]
PATTERSON, Mr C W, youngest son of Colonel G W S Patterson, OCD, died at Te Aroha. He returned invalided from active service some six months ago, having gone to the front with the 10th Reinforcements as a trumpeter in the Rifle Brigade. He had recovered from influenza but suffered a relapse to which he succumbed. He is buried at Te Aroha. [AWN 05.12.1918]

WAITE, Nurse, one of the five New Plymouth nurses despatched to assist at Auckland Hospital, died at the New Plymouth Hospital. She returned in apparently good health but developed a seemingly slight attack of influenza. On Monday she was regarded as satisfactory but in the evening virulent symptoms hitherto unobserved in any local case appeared and speedily ended fatally. [AWN 12.12.1918]

Four members of the First NZ Contingent which fought in South Africa have died from influenza. Their names are:

Mr James THORPE, Hawkes Bay, employed in the Public Works Dept,
Mr R S YOUNG of Ohau, who was rather severely injured as the result of his service in South Africa and never entirely recovered.
