ARSCOTT, Robert, proprietor Talisman Hotel, Katikati, at Waihi district hospital - widow presently in Katikati temporary hospital. [AWN 05.12.1918]

BALLARD, Mr Mark, died on Saturday at Tuhimata from complications following upon influenza. [AWN 21.11.1918]

BARRY, Mr E, Mayor of Ohakune, aged 29 - influenza [AWN 28.11.1918]

BERRY, Harold W, Wellington, influenza - widow & two young sons. [AWN 19.12.1918]

BEY, Dr William of Greytown (influenza) on Thursday. [AWN 21.11.1918]

BILKEY, Mr, second son of R Bilkey, aged 28, 9th Reinforcements, invalided last May suffering from the effects of gas, Pukekohe, afforded a military funeral. (Pneumonia) [AWN 21.11.1918]

BOND, Michael, kitchenman, aged about 55, died suddenly at the Auckland Club last week. Verdict: Pneumonia in the left lung, aortic valve in a condition of acute inflammation. Death due to an acute attack of influenza. [AWN 14.11.1918]

BRYERS, Mary (May) Dorothea, died on 23 November 1918 at Vermont St Hospital, of influenza, youngest daughter of the late C & Mrs M A Bryers, Omapere, Hokianga: aged 22. Buried Purewa Cemetery. [AWN 19.12.1918]

COBELDICK, Cpl F T, son of W Cobeldick, Government ranger, Rotorua, died in camp from pneumonia following upon influenza. His brother, Pte Eric W COBELDICK, was killed in action in France in July 1917. [AWN 28.11.1918]

CUTTEN, E C, SM, who is suffering from influenza, was removed from his home at Takapuna on Monday night to the Auckland Hospital. [AWN 14.11.1918]

DAWSON, Adam Albert, died on 11 November 1918, at Warkworth Hospital of pneumonia following influenza, son of Mrs J Dawson, Mullet Point. [AWN 19.12.1918]

DEMPSEY, Dan, single, aged 33, died at Bradford St, Parnell, on Thursday, of pneumonia with meningitis. [AWN 26.12.1918]

DICKEY, Samuel, Katikati - wife & 10 children in hospital [AWN 05.12.1918]

DIXON, Charles Alfred, died on 16 November 1918 at Otahuhu Hospital, of influenza, Charles Alfred Dixon of East Tamaki, eldest son of the late Mr Hazar Dixon of Kamo, late of Waimate North, Bay of Islands: aged 42, son and brother of Laura and Milly. [AWN 19.12.1918]

DREWETTE, Captain, Master of the Monowai, died at Wellington from the effects of influenza. [AWN 07.11.1918]

GOLLAN, Walter, secretary Prisons Board and chief clerk to the Dept of Justice [AWN 05.12.1918]

GOODISON, Ann Winifred, 24 November 1918, Northern Wairoa Hospital, Te Kopuru, of influenza-pneumonia, contracted while nursing, Ann Winifred, eldest daughter of the late William Green and Patricia Webb of Arapahoe, wife of Sapper H C Goodison, 20th Engineers. [AWN 05.12.1918]

GRACE, Pte David P, son of Mrs C Grace, Upper Vincent St, died of influenza and was buried at Waikumete Cemetery with military honours. [AWN 28.11.1918]

GRAY, Pte James, who died at Palmerston of influenza was the youngest son of E Gray, Rotorua. [AWN 05.12.1918]

GREY, William Stockburn, died14 November 1918, Takapuna, of influenza, aged 22. [AWN 21.11.1918]

HARTGILL, W H, died from pneumonic influenza. [AWN 21.11.1918]

HAWKE, John F, carpenter, aged 59, died on Monday while working at Makarewa after influenza. He leaves a widow and three children. [AWN 19.12.1918]

HAWKEN, Edwin H, dentist - influenza - widow presently in hospital [AWN 28.11.1918]

HILL, Robert S, son of John Hill, Glencoe, Hamilton, aged 32, died of influenza. He was Secretary to the Te Aroha Fire Brigade and local Sports Committee and was prominent in the Presbyterian Church and Oddfellows' Lodge. [AWN 26.12.1918]

HINDMARSH, Mr A H, MP for Wellington South, died last week from pneumonia following influenza. [AWN 28.11.1918]

HUME, W Goodfellow, Waihi Hospital, in partnership with R Joughin, Owharoa, blue-metal quarry business, latterly grain & produce merchant - leaves widow and young family. [AWN 05.12.1918]

JAMIESON and MILES Two deaths from influenza occurred at the hospital during the weekend, Mr Robert JAMIESON, aged 36, Auckland Fire Brigade, and Mr Frederick MILES, aged 36, labourer, Railway Dept. [AWN 31.10.1918]

JEFFERIES A sad incident in connection with the recent epidemic in Wellington took place at the Petone Magistrate's Court last week when ten bright faced, intelligent, healthy, well-bred children were committed to the charge of the Education Dept. They were the children of the late Mr & Mrs JEFFERIES who were victims of the epidemic. Some of the children will be taken charge of by the relatives and others will remain in the direct care of the Government. [AWN 26.12.1918]

JOHNS, Frederick, Waihi East, son of Mr Thomas Johns, late manager of the Waihi Extended Mine, Waihi district hospital - leaves a widow and young family. [AWN 05.12.1918]

KAY, Hugh, died 28 November 1918, Christchurch Hospital, of influenza-pneumonia, aged 31. [AWN 12.12.1918]

KEARSE, Mrs Jane died suddenly of heart failure at Waihi of influenza. [AWN 26.12.1918]

KEYS, Mr Bert, formerly Secretary of NZ Newspaper Proprietors Assn, Palmerston North (influenza) [AWN 21.11.1918]

LAURENCE, Sister Mary, Convent of Mercy, Te Aroha. [AWN 05.12.1918]

LAURIE, Charles G F, died on Tuesday last week. He was 52 years of age. The cause of death was pneumonia supervening upon influenza. [AWN 21.11.1918]

McCONNELL Died at his residence, Huntly Avenue, of Mr Robert William McCONNELL, solicitor. Deceased was ill for only a week, succumbing to bronchial pneumonia, following influenza. [AWN 14.11.1918]

McGEE, J A, Legion of Frontiersman, died at Christchurch Hospital of pneumonia supervening on influenza. [AWN 19.12.1918]

McKENZIE, Major, chief records officer at Trentham, died from influenza today. [AWN 1.11.1918]

McNEISH, Sgt J A, died at Wellington on the 19 November of pneumonia following influenza. [AWN 05.12.1918]

McNICOL, Mr W J Died at Hamilton on Wednesday, at the age of 34, of influenza [AWN 05.12.1918]

MORROW, Susan, single, died on the train while being conveyed to Whangarei Hospital on Thursday. [AWN 14.11.1918]

NAPIER, Mrs Hannah, wife of employee of State sawmill at Piha [AWN 14.11.1918]

NESBITT, John, married, with 10 children cut his throat while suffering depression after influenza. [AWN 19.12.1918]

NEWTH, John died on Sunday of influenza. [AWN 05.12.1918]

PATTERSON, Mr C W, youngest son of Colonel G W S Patterson, OCD, died at Te Aroha. He returned invalided from active service some six months ago, having gone to the front with the 10th Reinforcements as a trumpeter in the Rifle Brigade. He had recovered from influenza but suffered a relapse to which he succumbed. He is buried at Te Aroha. [AWN 05.12.1918]

PENMAN, James O, 2nd Engineer Navua, Papeete, 29 November 1918, influenza while vessel en route to the Dominion from San Francisco, son of Mr & Mrs James Penman, 25 Morley Ave, Devonport. [AWN 12.12.1918]

POLLEN, Dr Henry, port health officer at Wellington, aged 65, pleurisy following influenza [AWN 28.11.1918]

POWER, Maurice G, died recently at Taumarunui from influenza. [AWN 21.11.1918]

PUTAN, Joseph, an elderly man, was found dead on the floor of his home in Vernon Street, Freeman's Bay. Believed to have been caused by influenza. [AWN 21.11.1918]

RADOCKOVICH, Mate, died 16 December 1918, Kaikohe Hospital, pneumonia following influenza, Mate, brother of Emilia and Sam Radockovich, Okaihau, Bay of Islands: aged 34. [AWN 26.12.1918]

TAYLOR, William Miles, On 18 November 1918 at Featherston Military Hospital, of pneumonia following influenza, 44th Reinforcements, third son of William and Elizabeth Taylor, Maungaturoto: aged 21. [AWN 05.12.1918]

WAITE, Nurse, one of the five New Plymouth nurses despatched to assist at Auckland Hospital, died at the New Plymouth Hospital. She returned in apparently good health but developed a seemingly slight attack of influenza. On Monday she was regarded as satisfactory but in the evening virulent symptoms hitherto unobserved in any local case appeared and speedily ended fatally. [AWN 12.12.1918]

WATKINSON, Arthur E, Sherwood Road, Mt Eden, died at Wanganui on November 2, from congestion of the lungs following upon influenza. [AWN 14.11.1918]

WEBSTER A young man named WEBSTER who recently arrived from the King Country, was found dead in a raupo swamp near Dargaville on Saturday. He recently suffered from influenza. [AWN 14.11.1918]

SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS - Deaths from Influenza [AWN 12.12.1918]
Four members of the First NZ Contingent which fought in South Africa have died from influenza. Their names are:
Mr T CASEY, son of the late Mr Maurice Casey of Auckland, Major W C MORRISON, NZSC, General Staff Officer, Canterbury Military District, Mr James THORPE, Hawkes Bay, employed in the Public Works Dept, Mr R S YOUNG of Ohau, who was rather severely injured as the result of his service in South Africa and never entirely recovered.
