MOUNT RICHMOND, NELSON AIR ACCIDENT
THURSDAY 07 MAY 1942

On Thursday 07 May 1942, a Union Airway's Lockhead airliner on a flight from Wellington to Nelson crashed into Mount Richmond near Nelson.
The five people who died were the first civilian casualties on a regular New Zealand passenger flight.
The victims were:

FARRAR Amy (Miss) 52 Passenger Christchurch
FELL Pamela Ruth (Miss) 29 Passenger Nelson
JOHNSTON Keith Richard 34 Commander Married of Miramar, Wellington
MOORE William Herbert 35 Passenger Wellington
SMILLIE William 23 Second Officer Married of Rongotai, Wellington
