Beside the war memorial is a 77mm German Feldkanone Model FK16 trophy gun. The plaque reads - Naseby's trophy gun is a 77mm German Feldkanone Model FK16 No 11746 made in 1917. It was captured during the second battle of Bapaume in North-west France, in August 1918 by soldiers of the New Zealand Division. At the conlusion of hostilities it was sent to England, then shipped to New Zealand on a returning troop ship in 1919. It was awarded to Naseby by the Defense Department in November 1920 and arrived here in May 1921. This gun could fire a 5.9 kg shell over 10 km and it and its limber, was drawn by six horses and crewed by eight soldiers.
