ROLL OF HONOUR UNVEILED AT WORKING MEN'S CLUB.
A handsome roll of honour board of embossed copper, on which is engraved the names of the twenty-six members of the Palmerston North Working Men's Club who made the supreme sacrifice in the Great War, was unveiled in the Club billiard room last night by the Mayor (Mr J. A Nash, M.P.) The list contains the following names: -
In unveiling the board, Mr Nash paid a feeling tribute to the sacrifices the brave men had paid in the cause of human liberty. He suggested that a gold medal suitably inscribed should be given to the next of kin of all men who had fallen to be handed down from generation to generation. The roll of honour board was not only for the present but should be an example to generations to come of the self sacrifice of their forbears.
At the conclusion Mr W. H. Bartlett (president of the Club) mentioned that another roll of honour containing the names of the returned men would shortly be erected.
