TE PUKE, BAY OF PLENTY
WELCOME HOME TO THE BOYS
JULY 1947
The Puke Farewell and Welcome Home Committee ... on behalf of the people of Te Puke, Manoeka and the four Roads farewelled 173 men during the war years and given welcome to all who returned.
In July 1947 a final wind up of the committee was held at Capitol Theatre - over 800 people were present. Envelopes were presented to all returned servicemen (and one woman) of approx £17 each so winding up the Patriotic Fund.
